Mystery by the Sea is local chapter of the national
organization of Sisters in Crime (SinC). Serving the Tidewater and Eastern
Shore areas of Virginia as well as the Inner Banks of North Carolina, we adhere
to the national SinC mission statement, which is: “To promote the professional
development and advancement of women crime writers and to achieve equality in
the industry.”
Our members span the entire breadth of the mystery-writing
spectrum, from multi-published authors to MFA students to people just thinking
about writing, and includes both males and females. We welcome anyone
with a passion for the written word.
Membership to Mystery by the Sea is open to anyone with an
interest in writing and is a member of the national organization of Sisters in

Sisters in Crime (SinC) is an international
organization founded in 1986 to promote the professional development and
advancement of women writing crime fiction.
Today SinC is made up of more than 3,000 member sin 48
chapters worldwide–authors, readers, publishers, agents, booksellers,
librarians and others who love mysteries.
There are local chapters, a national listserve discussion group and member
discounts for writing workshops and special events. Thier motto:
